In another great example of customer relationship-building, two members of the Makita UK team visited our design department to help create a video about Makita's XGT range of Li-ion tools and the XGT battery platform.
Sales/Demo/Training Rep Darrell Beresford and Product Specialist Courtney Frankish naturally were keen to tell us all about this expanding, industry-leading cordless power tool range that's doing its bit to keep Makita at the forefront of power-tool design and technology.

Introduced in June 2020, the high-performance XGT range is a 40v–80v system that comprises Makita's highest-power cordless tools, with its own batteries and chargers. Revolutionary technology ensures that the tools' motor technology works together with the batteries for optimum performance.
Since its introduction, says Courtney, the XGT range has expanded at a rapid rate. Courtney explains: "This cordless system of tools, batteries and chargers now includes 41 models, and there are tools to handle the most demanding tasks a wide range of industries: construction, woodworking, grounds care and metalwork."

One of Darrell's favourite XGT power tools is the LS002GZ01 40v Sliding Compound Mitre. "It's an absolute beast of a machine that boasts a 8½" blade," says Darrell, "and delivers corded performance on big and small woodworking jobs alike."
Darrell points out that the 40v XGT batteries charge very quickly: The 2.5Ah (which offers the same performance as an 18v 5Ah battery) charges fully in 28 minutes, while the 4Ah 40v XGT battery (which offers the same performance as 2 x 4Ah batteries in the 18v range) charges in 45 minutes. And there's even better news: Makita is soon to release the new 5Ah XGT battery.

The Makita UR003GZ 40v Max XGT Brushless Line Trimmer has a brushless motor, 3 speed settings and a reverse switch. Automatic Torque Drive Technology automatically changes the cutting speed according to load condition. For added protection, its Active Feedback Sensing Technology (AFT) shuts down the tool if the rotation speed suddenly slows down.

Pretty impressive so far, but what next? A global leader like Makita always strives to follow success with more success, so they have big plans to take their ground-breaking XGT line ever further. Makita will soon introduce a 14" XGT disc cutter as well a 5Ah Li-ion battery, with even more products to follow.
