It's hard to review tools without giving them a proper amount of use. I decided to wait with this sander to see how Makita's budget red line of tools performs with heavy use and I can report that this sander is just as good as the blue wired version. It's almost identical in function in fact, I certainly perceive no real differences. It uses the same platten as well so when you inevitably wear the velcro out (as mine did) you can replace it very easily with the same part as used in the blue tool - bolts right up.Powerful enough, about average as far as vibration goes, maybe a bit noisy but wear earplugs like any other tool. Also a very good, fully rubber cable - this is where Makita really shine, they recognise that a nice cable makes all the difference even on a cheap, budget line tool.I recommend it, I'd even go as far as to say it's not worth spending the extra on the blue line equivalent model.

More an adequate for hobbyists or light use. Looks and feels like a well made, high quality power-tool.

A good piece of kit for the money. If you want a good quality sander for occasional, rather than frequent professional, use this is a good tool. Makita quality on a budget.

Great sander used in furniture and french doors easy to use with powerful motor. You will need to purchase some discs as it only comes with a single one but lots of options in the size needed

A really powerful sander in a small package. This sanded back in seconds on a piece I was working on. I was surprised how good it is for an orbital.A word of caution: I was sanding a circular piece of wood and the pad had stopped in one place without me noticing. This caused enough heat buildup to melt the hook and loops on the pad in that area. I had to replace the pad. This is not a fault of the sander, it was me not paying attention. The replacement was simple to do as well. I can’t fault the sander, I can fault my technique.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Absolutely perfect for the job we had - sanding our bedroom walls before painting. We have a big room with 3m tall walls, so it was a hefty job but this gadget made it considerably easier! Would recommend.
