The STIHL KMA 80 R is the first battery-powered KombiMotor in the AK System of garden tools and is designed for use in home gardens. It’s powered by a 36-volt lithium-ion battery and is quiet, efficient and powerful enough to tackle a variety of garden tasks - whether it’s pruning, trimming, mowing, clearing or cutting! Compatible with all KombiTools (except FSB-KM), attaching and changing tools is made simple too – all you need to do is insert your desired tool into the shaft and tighten to secure it in place.
Fitted with a new style loop handle that has a quick-mounting system, meaning you can adjust the handle to your height for an ergonomic working position. This handle also makes tackling tasks on slopes, around trees or on uneven terrains even easier. The KMA 80 R has a powerful brushless EC motor and speed-adjustment on the control handle, which can be set at 2 different speed settings. There is an ECO mode (level 1), for KombiTools suited to simple tasks such as trimming lawn edges, which results in lower energy consumption for extended battery life. And there is full speed mode (level 2), for KombiTools suited to tasks that need more power, such as clearing leaves which requires extra battery energy. However, depending on the KombiTool attached, the speed adjustment can also be infinitely variable.
You can use any of the AK batteries with the KMA 80, however, working times will vary depending on which attachment you use with it. The recommended AK 30 battery will give you the longest working times but is also the heaviest of the AK batteries, so you may decide to choose a smaller capacity battery if you are going to be using the tool for a longer period of time, such as when hedge trimming.
- CONSTANT POWER, REGARDLESS OF BATTERY CHARGE STATUS. With other brands of battery tools, the performance usually decreases during work as the battery discharges. This is not the case with STIHL cordless power tools with CONSTANT POWER. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your STIHL power tool works with consistently high power.
- EASY ADJUSTMENT OF POWER TOOL PERFORMANCE. Quickly and conveniently adjust the speed of your power tool to the respective work situation. Doing so reduces energy consumption at low speeds, and in this way extends the battery runtime. The practical control handle with speed control allows you to make the relevant adjustment without having to change your grip or pause work.
- FOR SAFE WORK IN SMALL SPACES. The loop handle ensures good manoeuvrability of your power tool, even in confined spaces. The barrier bar protects you by ensuring your feet and legs cannot come too close to blades or mowing heads during work.
- FOR COMFORTABLE TRANSPORT AND STORAGE. Thanks to the detachable shaft, you can quickly dismantle your power tool for easier transport, and also store it in a space-saving manner. You do not need any tools to disassemble the shaft.
- QUICK ASSEMBLY OF KOMBITOOLS. Thanks to the quick-release coupling, the various KombiTools for your power tool can be connected and disconnected quickly and without tools.
- DIRECT POWER SUPPLY TO THE POWER TOOL. With this power tool, you can insert the required battery from the STIHL AP-System directly into the engine housing. This increases your mobility and flexibility when working.
- LOW-MAINTENANCE AND EFFICIENT. Thanks to its compact design, low weight and high efficiency, the EC engine enables you to work in an energy efficient manner. This engine also has a long service life.
